A Scottish golf venue owned by former US President Donald Trump could host an event on the Legends Tour in 2023.

As James Corrigan of The Telegraph reported, negotiations are underway for Trump to bring the former European Seniors Tour to Trump International Links in Aberdeenshire.

One player from the Legends Tour told The Telegraph: "The range has been abuzz with the speculation for weeks. It’s bound to cause a stir - with Trump it always does and gives us the exposure we crave. There have even been more rumours that he, himself, might play."

The Legends Tour, which features the likes of Darren Clarke, Colin Montgomerie and Thomas Bjorn, is affiliated with the DP World Tour and CEO Keith Pelley.

The DP World Tour extended the strategic alliance with the PGA Tour earlier this season to combat the rise of the LIV Golf Tour. Trump is set to host an event on the Saudi-backed series for the second time this week in Miami.

This is why this news comes as a surprise, suggesting that the controversial political figure could collaborate with the Legends Tour. His courses haven't hosted an event on the PGA Tour since he entered the Oval Office in 2017.

He hosted his first LIV Golf event at the Bedminster Invitational and now, Trump National Doral Miami will host the season-ending Team Championship worth $50 million.

Trump, 76, is also involved in the Aramco Team Series which is sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour. Trump Ferry Point hosted the New York fixture was won by Lexi Thompson.

"I think LIV has been a great thing for Saudi Arabia, for the image of Saudi Arabia," said Trump back in July.

"I think it's going to be an incredible investment from that standpoint, and that's more valuable than lots of other things because you can't buy that - even with billions of dollars.

"I do think that the publicity that they've gotten, more than anything, has been a great thing for them. I think the publicity they've gotten is worth billions of dollars. It's one of the hottest things to have happened in sports, and sports is a big part of life."
