PING G400 driver - Price: £389

“The G400 driver is a prime example of how our engineering team looks at every single detail of a club to ensure we are optimising each design variable so golfers can improve performance,” said John A. Solheim, PING Chairman & CEO.

“In this case, we’ve gone slightly smaller in volume (445cc) to improve aerodynamics for faster clubhead speeds while actually raising the MOI higher than any previous PING driver. We also employed a thinner, forged face to deliver increased ball speeds. This commitment to performance enabled impressive distance gains and tighter dispersion, the ultimate driving combination. We’ve also engineered an incredibly pleasing sound in the driver through computer simulation that will turn heads on the tee box when golfers get it in their hands. It even has a shaft that changes colour at address to improve the player’s focus.”

Multi-material design has drag-reducing technology with forged face and tungsten sole to raise MOI.

Streamlined shape

Turbulators and Vortec Technology improves aerodynamics for more clubhead speed.

PING says: 15% less drag

Forged face

Increases face flexing for distance and forgiveness. Improves sound.

PING says: 6% thinner, 16% more flexing, 1-2mph more ball speed, 5 yards more distance

Tungsten sole weight

Deepest CG location in golf - MOI over 9,000. Increases forgiveness to PING’s highest levels ever.

Dragonfly technology

Thin crown and skirt cast saves weight, increases MOI, optimises CG. Engineeers had three times more discretionary weight to optimise.

Engineered Acoustics

Rib structure employed for improved sound.

Colour-shift paint technology

Copper shaft transitions to black as you address the ball.

Standard driver: 9-10.5 degrees

LST (low spin): 8.5 - 10 degrees

SFT (straight flight): 10 to 12 degrees

Loft sleeve: adjusts +-1 degree.

Shaft options: PING  Alta CB (counter-balanced) 55 (SR, R, S, X), PING Tour 65, 75 (upcharge) (R, S, X)

Aftermarket shaft options (RRP: £60 upcharge): Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Silver Dual-Core TiNi 60 (R, S, X), Project X HZRDUS Yellow 75 (5.5, 6.0, 6.5), Aldila X-Torsion Copper (50R, 60S)

G400 iron- Price: £110 per iron, £120 (graphite shaft)

“The G400 iron delivers phenomenal performance,” said John K. Solheim. “We like to call it our ‘game enjoyment’ iron because it’s so much fun to play. It provides tour-level performance while being very easy to hit and extremely forgiving with an amazing feel.

"Some golfers are seeing distance improvements as much as 15 yards, yet it is launching much higher and landing softer to give them more control. One of our tour players said it best during testing: ‘This G400 7-iron has turned into my 6-iron but in an 8-iron window.’ He got it exactly right. Golfers can expect one less club to the green with the height of two less clubs. That’s a powerful combination.”

Face flexing technology launches ball faster and higher, for more distance and stopping power.

COR-eye technology

Faster ball speeds for distance and height.

Toprail Undercut cavity

Combines with COR-eye to for extra face flexing for ball speed and height.

PING says: 18% more face flexing

Hyper 17-4 stainless steel

Increases strength of thinner face.

PING says: 40% stronger

Enriched impact response

Cavity badge for feel and sound.

Concealed CTP weight

Larger custom tuning port saves weight for more perimeter weighting and insert tunes swing weight.

Hydropearl chrome finish

Less friction improves performance from rough and in wet conditions.

PING says: 40% less friction

Shaft options: PING AWT 2.0 (R, S, X), Alta CB (counter-balanced) powered by AWT

Aftermarket shaft options (no upcharge): True Temper Dynamic Gold (S300, X100), Project X (5.0, 5.5, 6.0), True Temper XP95 (R, S,), Nippon NS Pro Modus 105 (R, S, X), KBS Tour (R, S, X)
