Srixon's new flagship ZXi irons are here, and as pretty as ever

It's been a mammoth 2026 for Srixon.

Fresh off claiming its first major driver win since 2023 in the hands of Ryan Fox, the Japanese brand has brought the heat to kick off 3M Open week.

Srixon have been one of the most prolific brands in unveiling new products over the last couple of months, just recently dropping the new ZXi RKT metalwood range that Ryan Fox would go on to win with at July's Open championship weekend.

Now, after much speculation, the brand has confirmed that updates to their flagship irons are on the way, dropping refreshed versions of the tour-trusted ZXi7 and ZXi5 irons, a brand new ZXi5+ iron model, as well as an update to the ZXi U utility iron. Here's what's new.

Who are the new irons for?

As with the prior generation, the ZXi7 will represent the most workable players offering in Srixon's forged line-up, with the more forgiving ZXi5 providing more of a players distance option (Srixon terms it 'players performance', for reasons we'll come on to shortly). 

Many Srixon staffers, including the aforementioned Fox and J.J. Spaun, game combo sets of these irons.

New for 2026 is the introduction of the ZXi5+, which Srixon calls its truest players distance model yet, offering low-to-mid handicappers more forgiveness and distance through longer blade lengths, wider soles, and stronger lofts

Beneath these three, the ZXi4, remains as the forged game improvement option in the line-up, although we're not sure if it's also due for an update further down the track or is simply being superseded by the ZXi5+.

The ZXiU iron also returns as a dependable utility iron option for better players who want a combination of workability and forgiveness off the tee.

So, what's new?

Aside from the introduction of the new ZXi5+ model, the updates to the irons are more incremental than boldly revolutionary. The irons have have the same proprietary i-Forged construction as the former model, which allows Srixon to use a softer steel in its irons while maintaining strength, however production has now been put into the hands of Endo, one of Japan's most revered forging houses. 

Each model has also been subtly reshaped to form a sleeker silhouette, all three models now boasting slightly thinner toplines for a more exacting look. Srixon's Tour V.T. sole shaping also returns for this new generation of irons, 

The main advances come in the form of updates to the to the Mainframe and Pureframe technologies introduced in the prior ZXi5 and ZXi7 models. On the ZXi5, ZXi5+ and ZXiU, the redesigned Mainframe iQ comprises a variable thickness network of grooves, channels, and notches precision into the back of every iron. At impact, these features flex together to maximise energy transfer for more speed, across the face.

On the ZXi7, the Pureframe system has also had a small update, Srixon's engineers incorporating a wider, thicker ridge of softer S15C steel behind the sweet spot of each club. They then used AI to optimise this further,  stiffening the impact zone and reducing face deformation while using less mass than the previous generation for higher MOI.
