Could this under-the-radar shaft brand be the next big thing in putting?

Upstart shaft manufacturer TPT has unveiled its range of low-torque putter shafts, putting stability and feel into the hands of more golfers.

One's choice of putter shaft isn't something a lot of average golfers put a lot of stock into, but given it's the club we all use the most, there's something to be said for making sure your flatstick is as well optimised for your game as your driver.

There are, of course, so many putter heads and styles out there that getting the perfect putter can quickly turn into an overwhelming process before you even begin to think about your shaft. But some new brands are working to rapidly change that – particularly for golfers who may have come to trust a certain head shape but don't want to sacrifice the latest breakthroughs in stability.

TPT Golf is one of the forward thinking brands pioneering in this space, having already found success with its range of graphite driver shafts. Previously reserved for bespoke L.A.B. putter builds on tour, TPT's debut range of putter shafts, named the Pulse range, has just hit the market for wider consumers.

TPT stands for Thin Ply Technology, which is core to the brand's identity and exclusive manufacturing process. While most graphite shafts in golf are hand-rolled, TPT has an entirely automated production process, layering four thin layers of graphite on top of one another, which it says entirely eliminates human error from the process and complete consistency in performance from shaft to shaft.

This also means that all of TPT's three new shaft models perform exactly the same despite offering very different feel profiles at impact. The Pulse range starts with the 50bpm, its softest and most responsive flex, trending up through the more balanced 60bpm and finishing with the stiffest 70bpm for more crisp feedback.

All three models, however, have an ultra-low-torque profile regardless of what putter head they're attached to, generating less than 1 degree of torque for enhanced stability and a greater chance of delivering a square face at impact. It's already proven a tour-winning formula, most notably in the hands of Adam Scott, who has long used a TPT shaft in his L.A.B. putters, and Lucas Glover, who used a TPT during his Wyndham and FedEx St. Jude Championship wins in 2023.

The Pulse range boasts striking looks in the manner of all TPT Golf shafts. The raw graphite finish is entirely natural due to TPT's no paint, no filler philosophy, offset by TPT's signature bright yellow branding.

All of this, of course, comes at a cost. TPT's Pulse Shafts retail for £375 each.
