Stephan Jaeger carded the first ever round of 58 in Web.com Tour history on Thursday.

Jaeger, 27, fired 12 birdies and six pars on day one of the Ellie Mae Classic for the first 58 in the circuit's history.

It marked the first 58 in a sanctioned event on the Web.com Tour, PGA Tour, European Tour or Champions Tour.

Jaeger started his round on the 10th hole, carding an outward 6-under 29 after five straight birdies from the 13th.

He then added five more birdies in a six-hole stretch from the first, before rolling home a clutch 10-footer for birdie at the final hole for a place in the record books.

Jaeger joins Ryo Ishikawa (Japan Tour, 2010), Shigeki Maruyama (US Open sectional qualifier, 2000) and Jason Bohn (Canadian Tour, 2001) as the only players to strike a 58 in competition.
