Nick Taylor held his nerve in testing weather conditions on Sunday to win his second PGA Tour title at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am.

The Canadian went into the final round with a one-shot lead over defending champion Phil Mickelson, who applied the pressure early on but the gap then stretched to five at the turn as Mickelson found some trouble at eight and nine.

Mickelson, who was in the hunt for his sixth victory at the event and a 45th PGA Tour title - which would have seen him match Walter Hagen - birdied three of his first six holes, but Taylor answered back when he holed out from a bunker for eagle at the sixth.

Taylor extended his lead when Mickelson made double bogey at the eighth after his tee shot left him 250 yards to the hole, which he then followed up with a bogey at nine.

Both players bogeyed the 12th hole and Mickelson looked to be in trouble at the next, before he pulled off an incredible up-and-down to save par to hold on to a glimmer of hope.

Watch the moment of brilliance below:

The 31-year-old made a number of mistakes on the back nine as the wind picked up, but Mickelson failed to capitalise and after making a few more mistakes of his own, Taylor pulled away to secure a four-shot victory, while Mickelson slipped into third.

Kevin Streelman finished in second place, one shot better than Mickelson, while Jason Day finished in fourth and Jordan Spieth in a much improved T9.

Victory for Taylor moved him up from 229 in the world to 101, while it also secured him a place in the 2020 Masters at Augusta.

"To do it in that fashion, playing with Phil, gives me a lot of confidence going forward," said Taylor.
