The U.S Open has always been one of the highest paying events and this year there's even more money up for grabs. Let's take a look at how much money the players will earn...
This year the U.S Open has returned to Pebble Beach for the first time since 2010. An excellent first round from Justin Rose saw him finish round one as the leader, shooting six under par and if he stays there for the rest of the tournament, he's in for some serious prize money.
The purse is set for $12.5 million this year, $500,000 higher than the purse in 2018. The huge amount is tied with the Players Championship as the richest in golf, with the winner taking home a staggering $2,250,000, an 18 percent payout, very similar to the standard PGA Tour payout.
The purse payout is based on the number of players who make the 36-hole cut heading into the weekend, but even those who fail to make the cut will all earn $10,000 for their efforts in rounds one and two (unless they have an amateur status).
