GolfMagic Readers... what an amazing few weeks I've had on the road having just got back home after clinching my second win of my rookie European Tour season with victory at the Belgian Knockout! It feels like a dream!
I remember watching this tournament on television last year and thought how interesting and unique the format was, and tournament host Thomas Pieters and his family have done such a great job getting an event back on the schedule.
It’s not easy to put on a high-profile event and I know for a fact that all the players competing had a great week. I must thank Thomas along with Thomas Detry and Nicholas Colsearts for all their efforts during the week.
The format itself made for great viewing and the 9-hole knockout matches over the weekend were tough both physically and mentally. My poor caddie was exhausted by Sunday night, however winning the trophy made it all worthwhile!
This victory, which follows my maiden win in Kenya three months ago, now puts me inside the World Top 100 for the first time in my career, and I'm also pleased to see I'm up into the Top 25 in the European Tour's Race to Dubai.
Lots of people have asked me what the secret if to my solid form and I guess all I can put it down to is hard work and continual belief in myself. It’s never easy going from amateur to professional and even during the first year or two I kept learning and working harder and harder.
I received lots of questions from you guys on why I tee the ball up so high when using my TaylorMade GAPR driving iron.
The commentators on Sky Sports Golf found it very amusing and unusual. The truth is I saw someone on Instagram at the start of the season carrying out that exact shot and just decided to give it a go!
For those wondering, I use the high tee purely for compression. It forces me to make a steeper angle of attack without having any force on the ground. This helps control trajectory and ball-flight in tough conditions...
To thank you for your support and to celebrate my latest win on the European Tour, I'm giving away a replica of my TaylorMade GAPR iron to one lucky GolfMagic reader.
