"Only person who gets it" Ian Poulter applauds Jon Rahm over LIV Golf…

Ian Poulter has applauded Jon Rahm's latest comments about how politics should be put to one side in order to allow LIV Golf players to compete in the Ryder Cup.

Poulter tweeted his admiration for Rahm's latest take following his pre-tournament interview ahead of the Memorial Tournament on the PGA Tour.

A disgruntled Rahm told the media he has a "hard time to believe the best player Europe has ever had isn't fit to be on the team" in Europe's all-time leading points scorer, Sergio Garcia

Rahm also hit back at the major claims of LIV Golf's Phil Mickelson.

The World No.2 believes LIV Golf League players such as Garcia should still be able to compete in sport's greatest biennial contest that has always been about pitting the very best Europeans and Americans against each other.

Poulter is in complete agreement:

"The only person who get it.. @JonRahmPGA... it's just golf.. politics aside it's just golf," tweeted Poulter.

Garcia last week told the media of a private conversation he had with 2023 Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald, which ultimately made up his mind to tear up his DP World Tour membership - something Poulter, Lee Westwood, Richard Bland and Henrik Stenson have also done this season.

"I wanted him to be sincere and tell me the truth, and he pretty much told me that I had no chance," Garcia revealed following his chat with Donald.

"Obviously that made my decision a little bit easier."
