Paige Spiranac teases LIV Golf pros over Rory McIlroy with Messi, Salt Bae post

Paige Spiranac has mocked LIV Golf players on social media after comparing the viral frosty Lionel Messi and Salt Bae interaction at the World Cup with what they can likely expect when they meet Rory McIlroy at The Masters in April.

Spiranac, the social media sensation with 3.7 million Instagram followers which is even more than Tiger Woods, took to Twitter moments after it emerged that eligible LIV Golf players will be able to compete in golf's first major of the year at famed Augusta National from April 6 to 9, 2023.

There had been some doubt as to whether or not LIV Golf players would be able to participate in The Masters, especially with those on the Saudi-backed golf league currently still suspended by the PGA Tour and ongoing court hearings between the global circuits in 2023.

Here's all you need to know about LIV Golf players' eligibility for The Masters.

The decision by Augusta National means the likes of Dustin Johnson, Cameron Smith, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia and Phil Mickelson will all be allowed to tee it up at The Masters in 2023.

With that in mind, Spiranac took to Twitter to taunt the LIV Golf players by comparing World Cup winner Messi's awkward interaction with Salt Bae on the pitch last week to a similar exchange we could see when they bump into career grand slam hopeful McIlroy at The Masters.

"LIV golfers trying to say hi to Rory at The Masters," Paige tweeted with a video of the viral clip.

Messi, who won his first World Cup with Argentina last weekend, was seen trying his best to shake off the attentions of famous Turkish butcher and chef Salt Bae, who controversially entered onto the pitch during the trophy celebrations with the team and their families.

FIFA have since issued a statement revealing how Salt Bae should not have been allowed on the pitch.

McIlroy, who will likely start as the tournament favourite at Augusta National in April, is bidding to join an elusive group of players to complete the career grand slam with victory at The Masters.

In the modern era, only five players have completed the career grand slam: Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.
