Tour pro driver SNAPS in golf cart en route to playoff that she goes on to lose

Just when you think you've seen it all in the world of golf, a Ladies European Tour pro saw her driver snap in a golf cart after being caught up in a rope en route to competing in a playoff for the Irish Open.

Holland's Anne van Dam was sat in a golf cart being driven by a tournament official as she headed back up the 18th to face Sweden's Lisa Pettersson and Denmark's Smilla Tarning Soenderby.

As you can see from the video clip below, van Dam holds the spectator rope up in the air to allow the official to drive the golf cart underneath.

Only she appears to let go of the rope too early and it catches the top of her golf bag, dragging it from the back of the cart and down onto the ground.

The official and van Dam then both get out of the cart to realise the driver has snapped.

Sophie Walker in the Sky Sports comms box can be heard saying: "She's broke her driver!"

Lead commentator Richard Kaufman then says: "Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, I just can't believe what I've seen."

To make matters worse, van Dam ended up losing the playoff.

Five-time LET winner van Dam had also taken a three-stroke lead into the final round.

Soenderby charged from out the pack with a stunning 10-under 62 to set the clubhouse target of 16-under par.

Pettersson matched it with a 68 and van Dam birdied the last to card a 71 and join them in a playoff.

Soenderby then continued where she left off all day by making an incredible eagle-three on the first extra hole to wrap up her maiden Ladies European Tour title.

van Dam's driver snap marked the second crazy incident in the ladies game this week following one of the most bizarre cheating, DQ stories you will ever hear about.
