Netflix has bet hard on the game of golf in recent years.

In addition to the much-loved Full Swing PGA Tour docuseries, the streaming giant also brought the world Happy Gilmore 2, golf anime Rising Impact, and even live-streamed golf events like the Netflix Cup.

Now, Netflix and a comedy legend in the form of Will Ferrell are taking the game to task once again, revealing this week the first teaser for The Hawk: a brand new comedy series starring Ferrell himself.

Created by Ferrell himself, the series gives off plenty of the hallmarks you've likely become accustomed to if you're a fan of his movies. Ferrell will play Lonnie "The Hawk" Hawkins, an aging, John Daly-esque former great struggling against the eternal enemy of time itself.

"Lonnie Hawkins (Will Ferrell), 2004’s number one golfer, struggles on the back nine of his career to recapture his magic," reads a synopsis from Netflix

"His body says retire, but his heart says he’s not done yet. His ex-wife and his son Lance, golf’s new golden boy, know he’s throughBut with one more major to win to complete golf’s Grand Slam, Lonnie refuses to believe he’s anything other than one stroke away from the greatest comeback in golf history."

Think Talladega Nights on a golf course, then.

Like Full Swing and Happy Gilmore 2, the PGA Tour was involved as a partner on the show, and the trailer shows Ferrell's character take part in licensed events like the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Callaway Golf also seem to be involved as Hawkins' equipment sponsor, and we're fairly sure we spied Hawkins sporting some Malbon gear as well. We wouldn't be surprised to see some famous golfers make cameos in the show either.

Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Luke Wilson, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, and David Hornsby will round out the main cast of the show, which will premiere on the platform on July 16.
