Dustin Johnson claims Augusta National can be likened to Harbour Town

World No.1 explains the similarities between last week's Masters and this week's RBC Heritage

They might be separated by some 400 yards in total distance, with very different sized greens, but Dustin Johnson believes the skillsets required to tackle both Augusta National and Harbour Town are very similar.

Johnson, who returned to World No.1 again for the 87th week of his career following a tie for second at The Masters last week, believes players don't need to make too much of an adjustment to their games heading into this week's RBC Heritage.

"Honestly, it doesn't really change," said Johnson.

"Last week at Augusta, the course was long. Even the fairways are big. They're still kind of tight the way  they position the bunkers, and the slopes and the fairways, you're still trying to hit it to a certain spot.

"It's actually a good preparation for this week because you've got to hit your numbers. These greens are really small. Last week the greens were big, but very small quadrants. There's a lot of similarities, even though the golf courses may not look anything alike."

There will be a real premium on solid iron and wedge play this week given the average green size at Harbour Town is 3,700 sq feet, equating to roughly half the size of a typical PGA Tour venue.

With tight tree-lined fairways for the most part and the golf course only measuring 7,099 yards - in comparison to Augusta's 7,475 yards - finding the fairways will be much more important than brute force off the tee this week.

Johnson is making his fourth starts in this tournament, having played it last year for the first time in eight years. His best finish here was last year with a T16.

The big-hitting American starts as a warm 7/1 favourite as he bids to win his 21st PGA Tour title and third tournament around the world in 2019.
