"I'm absolutely done in": DP World Tour star demands change to schedule

David Law says the DP World Tour's season-ending stretch is taking its toll on players.

Scottish golfer David Law has called on the DP World Tour to reconsider ending its season in South Korea and India, citing concerns over players' mental health.

The DP World Tour's 2025-26 regular season concluded last week with the Genesis Championship in South Korea.

Japan's Yuto Katsuragawa won the $4m (£3m) tournament at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club, where the final Race to Dubai standings were confirmed.

The final standings determined which players retained their playing privileges for next season, while others secured their places in the season-ending playoffs.

Law was among the former group, but his place was hard-earned after spending 11 consecutive weeks on the road.

The 35-year-old told The Scotman's Martin Dempster that the latter part of the schedule "needs to change".

"The one thing I feel is that the schedule needs to change a little bit on the tour," he told the publication.

"I think having 11 weeks in a row at the end of the year when you have guys fighting for jobs, guys fighting for PGA Tour cards and guys fighting to get into the play-offs is a bit much.

"I think finishing the season off after we've been in Europe for so long to go out to India and Korea with the time difference and have those as the last two counting events is pretty poor, to be honest.

"I just feel it's not fair on guys in the situation I found myself in to be expected to play that much, especially with the uncertainty of those entry lists, which were staying so high for so long."

Law finished 99th in the final standings, one place ahead of American Sean Crocker, with Eddie Pepperell narrowly missing out on retaining his playing privileges.

The result means Law, winner of the 2019 ISPS Handa Vic Open, will not have to contest next week's Q-School.

Law admitted he was unsure he had enough left in the tank to tackle the gruelling six-round test, in which only 15 players earn their DP World Tour cards.

"I'm absolutely done in, both physically and mentally," he added.

"If I didn't keep my card and had to go to the Q School next week, I don't think I'd have any chance of competing to be honest, and I know there are 20-30 guys who are in the exact same boat as me.

"Mental health and well being and stuff like that is spoken about a lot these days and I don't think that last closing stretch is fair on the players and I think something needs to change."

Law's request is likely to fall on deaf ears for now.

The DP World Tour's schedule for the 2027 campaign was confirmed at the BMW PGA Championship.

As many as 42 tournaments will be contested across 24 countries.
