England Golf announces record-breaking month for World Handicap System
England Golf tells GolfMagic that more than 1.6m scores have been submitted for handicapping purposes in August 2025.

August has been a record-breaking month for England Golf in terms of scores submitted to the World Handicap System™ in a single calendar month.
Over 1.6m scores were submitted for handicapping purposes in August 2025, surpassing last year's 1.569m, and May’s previous monthly record of 1.597m.
While 2025 has seen a particularly dry, sunny summer, it has seen record numbers on the course, with 53% of scores submitted through competitions, and the remaining 47% through general play scores.
A total of 8.96m scores have been submitted in the first eight months of 2025, with last year’s 10.21m looking set to be surpassed by the end of the year.

On top of that record, England Golf is also continuing to see growth across its award-winning iGolf and iPlay programmes, with August seeing the total number of iGolf subscribers pass 70,000, and number of iPlay sign-ups to over 11,000 users.
Head of iGolf Claire Hodgson said:
“Clearly it’s been a great summer in terms of the sun shining, and it’s obviously encouraged more and more to get out on the course.
“Our golfer journey really is working, with great numbers for both iPlay and iGolf continuing to grow, and more of those iGolfers transitioning into golf club membership – over 20,000 since its inception just four years ago.
“And the fact that WHS™ numbers continue to grow and break records shows that many more golfers are embracing WHS™ and the digital capabilities of the MyEG app.
“We will continue to champion our game as one that is inclusive and accessible to all, as we want to ensure that everyone feels like golf can be a sport for them, and for them to go as far as they wish.”
