Els tests RAZR Hawk Tour driver

New range due for release here in Spring

Els tests RAZR Hawk Tour driver

After just a handful of swings Ernie Els put a new Callaway RAZR Hawk Tour driver in his bag when competing at last week's Hyundai Tournment of Champions on the US PGA Tour.

The driver is part of a group of new RAZR Hawk products, including fairway metals and hybrids, we understand are due to be introduced to golfers in Europe in the Spring.

Observed a Callaway spokesman on the range in Hawaii: "When Ernie arrived he wanted to see the new driver that we had for him and after about 10 swings he said he was very impressed with it. He put it in play and hit 80 percent of fairways for the week."

With its forged composite head and a weighting system to promote either a draw or neutral ball flight, it looks likely to be a sure winner alongside the standard RAZR Hawk version models.

Els also approved of a new Odyssey ProType putter, initially called the PT10 with reputedly a 36-inch shaft and a D5 swingweight to promote a smoother stroke.
