Ernie Els and Tom Lehman carved into Brad Faxon’s lead during the third round of the Sony Open in Hawaii last night with a pair of 65’s from the two former Major Champions.
Faxon carded a three-under-par 67 to maintain a three-stroke lead but had two strokes shaved off his second-round lead.
Carlos Franco of Paraguay and Jim Furyk, who won last week's Mercedes Championships, were seven shots off the lead at eight-under 202.
Furyk closed his round with three straight birdies and finished with a 69. It marked his 10th straight round in the 60s, dating back to last year's Las Vegas Invitational.
