FOLLOWING our news story yesterday which showed shockingly poor participation rates in golf last year, we’re pleased to announce an initiative which hopes to stimulate the industry.

A new dimension to corporate golf has arrived with the launch of “FORE” Business in the UK, bringing likeminded local businesses together to network and for golf.

This innovative concept has already been welcomed by 15 golf clubs which are now hosting monthly networking events in conjunction with a round of golf. The winning formula reflects a structured focus on generating business contacts, whilst boosting green fees, food and beverage revenues at participating venues.

New groups are continually emerging and “FORE” Business has now set its sights on having over 50 active groups by the end of the year.

Individuals from small to large businesses, as well as sole traders, are signing up as members in a bid to make valuable contacts and cement relationships with potential clients or partners.  The events are organised by a “FORE” Business Ambassador and provide uninterrupted quality time and a convivial atmosphere to do business both on and off the golf course.

Since piloting the initiative in the south east last year, “FORE” Business has attracted golf clubs as host venues from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Sussex, and Wiltshire and is expanding its reach by launching in Warwickshire, West Midlands, East Midlands and the North West.

Sean Fergusson, director and co-founder of “FORE” Business explained:  “It’s well-known that networking is one of the best ways to boost your business reputation and make new contacts.  Combining a round of golf with networking in a structured way now provides likeminded individuals with the opportunity to build mutually beneficial relationships in a more relaxing environment.

“The secret behind any effective networking is down to the quality of events and networks, but also how actively involved you become.  A “FORE” Business member for example can swing into action and put their business on course for a monthly subscription of £45 at any one of our venues.  The fee enables members to attend a monthly networking breakfast event followed by a round of golf with either three clients, prospects or friends.

Whilst the majority of “FORE” Business members are casual golfers, the business network is also appealing to club golfers from other neighbouring clubs wishing to widen their business and golfing contacts. Members also receive added value marketing benefits with the promotion of their businesses on the “FORE” Business website and through its social media campaigns on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.
