Football legend Gordon Banks and comedian Jasper Carrott are among the host of household names from sport and television who will be at Carden Park on September 11 to captain teams at a charity golf event.

Also confirmed for the Howard Keel Don Felder 25th Charity Golf Classic, to raise money for ChildLine, are Russ Abbott, singer Tony Christie, actor Robert Powell and snooker legends Dennis Taylor and Willie Thorne – who recently spoke to Golfmagic about his game.

Organised by former Manchester United and Scotland footballer Willie Morgan, the day will include 18 holes along with hospitality throughout the day and into the evening. Each team of three will be assigned a celebrity captain and golfers of all abilities are being invited to take part.

“We are privileged to have so many well known faces give up their time to help raise money for such a good cause,” said Morgan. “The day is always great fun for everyone involved and there are still places available.”

Entry is £3,000 for a team of three. Participants will be served morning refreshments on arrival before the 10.30am start followed by a light lunch in the VIP area of the clubhouse.

Everyone who takes part will receive a golf presentation package, eight gala dinner tickets (including two for their celebrity captain) and priority for additional gala dinner tickets. The gala dinner includes a champagne reception, wine and cabaret entertainment, plus a prize presentation at the end of the evening.

Carden Park’s general manager Hamish Ferguson added: “It’s an honour to be asked to host such a fantastic charity event and welcome some famous faces to the hotel. We will make every effort to ensure everyone has a truly memorable day and we wish all players the best of luck.”

Carden Park’s pedigree is impeccable with two championship courses – the Nicklaus and the Cheshire – and the resort is also a holder of the prestigious ‘GolfMark’ from the EGU for its junior and beginner friendly golf facilities.
