It’s that time of year again and EA Sports has announced a host of new features for the latest instalment of its best-selling golf franchise.

In the new game mode, Legends of the Majors, players can travel back through time and relive history by teeing up against the sport’s greatest names, including Seve Ballesteros, Ben Hogan, Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Sam Snead, Lee Trevino and, of course, cover star Tiger Woods.

And that’s not all. Other key gameplay features for Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf 14 include:

Twenty Championship courses: Augusta National Golf Club returns for a second year, while stalwarts of St Andrews’ Old Course, Pinehurst No.2 and The Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass all feature. This year’s game includes the most courses ever offered on disc.

Huge player roster: More than 35 playable golfers, representing both men’s and women’s Tours, including World No.1 Rory McIlroy, Ian Poulter, Rickie Fowler, Bubba Watson and Paula Creamer.

Members only: Country Clubs are back and better than ever with the ability to invite up to 100 members, chat online, hold tournaments and track statistics to create the ultimate competitive environment.

Make way for the ladies: Female-created golfers can now compete on the LPGA Tour and attempt to become a major champion by winning the Kraft Nabisco Championship. There are five playable LPGA golfers including Mizuno star Stacy Lewis.

Look the part: Step to the tee box on the game’s historic courses, experience unique era-specific gameplay visual treatments, wear classic attire and use equipment from golf’s rich history as you travel through time re-writing the record books with your own legacy.

Golf anytime in any condition: For the first time in franchise’s history, you can tee it up after the sun goes down and watch your drives streak through the night skies with an illuminated ball. In addition, new time-of-day settings allow fans to play golf in any condition at any time of day in conjunction with a live weather feed.

Customise your swing: With 24 unique golfer swing styles available, you now have the ability to customise the type of golfer you want to be. Advanced shot shaping, enhanced strike meter and ball physics have all been improved to reflect a real-world golfing experience.

Never play alone: The latest online experience allows you to play with up to 24 competitors at a time while an all-new dynamic stat tracking system feeds live data from the entire tournament field and makes you feel as if you’re in the mix of a real event.

So there you have it - not your standard annual upgrade.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14, available on XBox 360 and PlayStation 3 and including support for Kinect and Move, will hit the shops on March 28 and retail at £49.99. Visit EASports.com/TigerWoods for more.
