US course offers pay-by-the-hour green fees

A course in the US is offering pay-by-the-hour green fees, at a rate of $10 plus tax for 60 minutes.

Missouri layout The Lodge of Four Seasons believes the initiative will solve numerous issues faced by golf courses; slow play, gaps in tee times and the public being put off by the time it takes to play a round of golf.

"This is definitely a first for The Lodge," director of golf Matt Tausig said to Lake News Online. "I've worked in the golf industry for 25 years, and I've never seen another golf course offer this kind of pricing."

"Meeting attendees can and have time constraints but would love the opportunity to play one, two or more holes of golf in one hour just to decompress," said Frederik Houben, director of sales. "This new hourly price structure fills that void during their limited downtime."

Golfers can pay a pro-rata rate every 15 minutes they go over the time they have payed for.
