Tiger Woods' TaylorMade M5 driver was one of a number of drivers to be tested at random by the R&A on Monday at Royal Portrush.

According to a Golf.com report, Woods was asked to hand in his driver to manager Rob McNamara following his Open practice round on Monday with Dustin Johnson and Rickie Fowler.

Woods' M5 driver was then brought to the practice range where testing was done, and his driver soon passed the test.

The drivers were tested by the R&A to make sure they were conforming to the rules of golf, measuring the characteristic time of each clubface - the amount of "rebound effect" the face produces.

While the exact number of drivers tested this year remains unconfirmed, the R&A did test 30 drivers at random during the 2018 Open at Carnoustie last year and all of them passed the test.

Woods was earlier this week seen testing a new Scotty Cameron prototype putter and new TaylorMade 2-iron
