Shane Lowry didn't even get a discount after equipment "accident" at CJ Cup
Shane Lowry has revealed he damaged his putter during the opening round of the CJ Cup on the PGA Tour, which led to a frantic search for a replacement.
2019 Open champion Shane Lowry was forced to replace his putter at the CJ Cup on the PGA Tour after accidentally damaging his halfway through the opening round.
Lowry, who played alongside Matthew Fitzpatrick and Jason Day in the first round at Congaree Golf Club, still managed to card a 3-under par 68 which was only three shots behind the early leader.
That included playing the back nine in South Carolina with his broken putter. Shot Tracker revealed Lowry only used the damaged flatstick 14 times after making the turn. Lowry took to social media to clarify what happened.

"Accidentally broke my putter today on the ninth hole," Lowry posted. "Hour drive to get a replacement. Thanks to the staff at the PGA Superstore in Bluffton for their help."
It's usually standard for Tour pros just to nip to the nearest equipment truck on-site after a quick chat with their OEM rep if they need a club replacement or want to tweak something.

Unfortunately for Lowry, who is a Srixon staffer, the trucks get on the move on Wednesday and head to the next destination.

Lowry even posted his receipt to confirm that he didn't even get a discount after picking up his replacement Odyssey White Hot OG 2-ball that cost him $229.
Though it has to be said we believe the Irishman is probably worth a few bob.
Lowry is making his season debut on the PGA Tour this week alongside the likes of Rory McIlroy, who dropped some knowledge bombs on rising star Tom Kim after the South Korean gate-crashed his press conference.
The 35-year-old recently returned to form when he held off the aforementioned McIlroy to claim a one-stroke victory at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth on the DP World Tour, bringing an end a his wait for a win since picking up the Claret Jug in 2019.
