He was born on 28 March 1998, and turned professional in 2015.

Im has played on the Korean Tour, Asian Tour, and Web.com Tour, and currently plays primarily on the PGA Tour, which he joined in 2019.

Im gained attention in the golf world in 2016, when he became the youngest-ever winner of the Asian Tour's Order of Merit title, at the age of 18.

He has also represented South Korea in international competitions.

That included the 2016 World Amateur Team Championship, where he helped his team win the gold medal.

Im's first PGA Tour win came at the 2020 Honda Classic, where he shot a final round 66 to win by one stroke over Mackenzie Hughes.

He added to his tally of PGA Tour wins at the 2021 Shriners Children's open.
