Inspiring looks with the big and bold Srixon logo. Doesn't try to be flashy, it's black and white. Srixon has maintained both Pure White and Tour Yellow versions of the Z-Star but there’s a different side stamp with a dot and dash replacing the arrow and dot of 2011 which acts as a nice alignment aid off the tee and on the green. For us, Z-Star is one of softest feeling golf balls on the market today. The ultra soft urethane cover and 'high grip speed coating' provides outstanding spin control with the wedges, promoting a soft, buttery feel into the green. Off the putter face and there's a firm, solid sensation to enjoy.

With fewer spaces in the dimples and a larger diameter core, we find this aids a very stable ball flight, perfect for shots in the wind. Great wedge spin and ideal driver spin. Drives didn't feel like they were flying out the park, yet they were still up there with some of our longest when we checked out our Flightscope data.

Verdict

The new Z-Star ticks all the right boxes. It's a ball better suited to single-figure handicappers who favour extra spin with their wedges, solid distance off the tee and firmness off the blade.
