Inside J.J. Spaun’s Srixon-fuelled BMW PGA Championship winning bag at Wentworth
The Srixon staff player relied on a mixed ZXi iron setup, Z-STAR DIAMOND golf ball and Cleveland wedges to claim his first Rolex Series title at Wentworth.
J.J. Spaun trusted his Srixon setup to deliver when it mattered most as the American claimed a memorable BMW PGA victory at Wentworth Club.
The 36-year-old, a Srixon staff player, produced a sensational closing stretch to win his first Rolex Series title, birdieing four of his final five holes to finish two shots clear at 17-under par.
It was Spaun's first appearance at Wentworth – and an especially sweet victory given his strong connection to England, where he frequently spends time on holiday with his family during the winter.
At the heart of his winning setup was a combination of Srixon ZXi irons and the Srixon Z-STAR DIAMOND golf ball, alongside a selection of Cleveland Golf wedges.
Spaun opted for a split iron set, carrying a Srixon ZXi5 4-iron before switching to Srixon ZXi7 irons from 5-iron through pitching wedge.
The combination gave him the blend of forgiveness and precision needed to attack Wentworth's demanding approach shots, while his Cleveland Golf wedges provided the versatility required around the greens.
His bag was completed by a Srixon ZXiU #3 utility iron, TaylorMade Qi10 3- and 5-woods, a Titleist GT3 driver and L.A.B. Golf DF3 putter.
But it was the Srixon equipment that played a particularly important role during a dramatic final round.
Spaun's elite ball-striking was on full display as he attacked the closing holes, with a pinpoint approach to the par-3 14th finishing inside five feet and setting up another birdie.
Four birdies in his final five holes ultimately secured a two-shot triumph over a group that included grand slam champion Rory McIlroy.
“This means so much. I’ve kind of blossomed into this player that I never thought I could be,” Spaun said.
“To take my game across the world, more specifically here in England, a place that’s dear to my family’s heart, the stars kind of aligned this week for me to come out on top.”

The victory marks Spaun's second of the 2026 season and moves him to 12th in the world rankings.
The win also carried an extra edge for the 2025 U.S. Open champion.
Spaun admitted that missing out on Brandt Snedeker's U.S. Presidents Cup team provided extra motivation.
“I definitely had a chip on my shoulder,” he told reporters.
