Diablo Octane

Like the RAZR driver, the new Octane big boy features the forged composite material which is the lightest and strongest Callaway have ever used. That makes it possible for engineers to reposition the weight to optimise MOI, making the club more forgiving.

An attractive driver from a company who always produce wonderfully designed clubs. A tear-shaped club head is complimented by two red inserts on the sole of the driver.

The Octane has an extended shaft and light club head which gave me greater distance. I struggled with the light clubhead and the carbon and resin head didn’t produce a nice sound. I also found it hard to square my club at impact due to the extended shaft.

It produced a consistent ball flight and gave me good feedback thanks to the Project X shaft which comes as stock.

Verdict

Great for mid-handicappers who want to add a bit of distance to their drives. Good ball flight but was hard to control shots due to long shaft.
