It’s that time of year again when you are probably going to have to decide on getting a new bag for this season. And with an endless array of choice from all of the manufacturers we aim to review, it will be a difficult selection for you.

GOLFmagic have done most of the hard work for you and tested some of the top bags for 2001. We hope we have helped in your search for the perfect bag.

New this year from Mizuno are two superb bags. The all-new World Stand Bag and the Sumo trolley bag.

While stand bags are becoming increasingly popular among golfers now, the trolley bag seems to be the most popular type to buy for all year round use.

But regardless of what you prefer to carry, or pull, both types of bags must have some common factors.

They must be spacious, lightweight and relatively weatherproof to last a full season or more, especially when you pay top dollar for a golfing essential.

Mizuno have not let the side down this year with their new additions.

The Sumo bag from Mizuno is ideal for those of you who like to pull a trolley. It is both light and weatherproof and has plenty of space for those additional extras you need on the course such as waterproofs, hats, mittens, brolleys and other gizmos.

At 3.4Kg it is one of the lightest bags on the market as it is made from 1800 denier polyester with a “Suede Tex” trim and has a 6-way full length padded dividers to keep your clubs from bashing around.

Along with a padded single strap, this spacious bag comes with two huge clothing pockets, a 3-way accessory pocket with a mesh gusset, umbrella and towel attachments and a vented base to allow water to drain through should it rain.

The bag comes in four colours, black, navy/black, green and teal and sells for around £90 from all Mizuno stockists.

And for those of you who like the new trend of double strap carry bags, the new World Stand bag from Mizuno is perhaps the best bag out of all stand bags.

Mizuno say this is at the cutting edge of stand bag design and after the huge success of their WM8 stand bag over the last couple of seasons, the World Stand bag leaves it in the shade for comfort, space, lightness and ease of use.

The new, patented double strap allows for easy adjustment and is comfortable even when you have a bag full of winter weather gear added to a full set of clubs.

Along with a 6-way club divider, with a separate putter slot, this bag hits the top marks for me as it has so much space for a stand bag and is exceptionally light.

Two deep clothing pockets, a huge ball pocket, pockets for gloves, hats, tees, car keys, wallet, a kettle, cups, spoons and sugar bowls…in fact, this bag does everything bar make the tea! Pockets everywhere!!! (I was kidding about the kettle!)

At £109, it may not be the cheapest bag available. But if you are looking for a lightweight carry bag that is comfortable, spacious and with a stand that actually works every time and works well, you won’t have to look much further than this.

Weighing in a 3.3Kg this bag is extremely versatile for those of you who prefer to carry. However, one criticism of the bag is that it can be quite tricky to get on your shoulders. But once it is on, it is very comfortable indeed and with plenty of space for all those added extras and a snazzy new look in two colours, the staff "blue and white" or the bold black and white.

This bag will prove very popular with Mizuno fans everywhere and my bet it that it might even get a showing on tour too this year…it’s the bag the caddies have been waiting for!
