Titleist Pro V1

Brand: Titleist
Ball: Pro V1
Construction: 3-piece
Dimples/pattern: 352 tetrahedral
Cover: Urethane Elastomer
Best price: £40

Summary: Titleist used a new paint process for the cover to improve durability and aerodynamic consistency. The new Pro V1 has a softer-compression core, less spin and a shallower landing angle on tee shots.

Appearance: The new urethane elastomer cover formulation and paint system is visually impressive. This also contributes to improving the ball's durability and aerodynamics further. The 352 tetrahedral dimple design is the same as the 2011 Pro V1. The new grey colouring in the Pro V1 logo on the side of the ball is pleasing to the eye, instead of the previous black-and-white design. 5

Feel: New core technology creates the softest feeling Pro V1 to date. It's right up there alongside the Z-Star for us in the buttery feel stakes. This is the perfect ball for the mid-to-low capper seeking soft feel in the short game. Very easy to control on the dancefloor from short putts to those outside of 30-feet. 9

Performance: Pro V1 spins much less off the driver than the 2011 version and flies on a slightly lower ball flight with a shallower descent angle. 8.5

Verdict: The tweaks to the Pro V1 will be appreciated most by average golfers. It just about has all the bells and whistles a low capper craves with its long, straight ball flight and ideal spin with the wedges. 22.5
