Germany's Nicolai von Dellingshausen produced a final round masterclass to capture his first DP World Tour title at the Austrian Alpine Open.

The 32-year old went into the final round one stroke off the lead but raced to the top of the leaderboard early on with back-to-back birdies at the third and fourth holes at Gut Altentann Golf Club.

He made a mistake at the sixth but bounced back immediately by picking up four shots in the next three holes to make life easier coming down the stretch.

Kristoffer Reitan set the early clubhouse target of 17-under after posting a sublime 60 in the final round.

But despite a couple of scares, Von Dellingshausen managed to hold on for his first title on the European-based circuit.

Von Dellingshausen was forced to save par from 10 feet at the 16th and was fortunate his tee shot on the 18th found the rough when it looked as though it was heading towards the penalty area.

He told Sky Sports: I can't describe it, honestly. I'm a little bit lost for words right now.

"I'm trying really hard not to cry. It's been such a tough journey the last two-and-a-half years with losing the card.

"It's all got me to this stage right here and now I'm here!

"I was hitting good golf shots. It never felt like it could get out of my hands, to be honest, because I was just hitting the numbers I wanted, hitting the shots I wanted and even if things got a little tough here and there I saved pars, made some really nice putts along the way and I'm just happy overall.

"The par on the 16th was the moment where I said 'OK, now it's mine, now there's nothing going wrong'.

"Seeing the ball dropping was just the momentum I really needed for the last two holes.

"It's amazing. Thanks to everyone who came out here and just watched and supported us. It kind of feels like a home tournament for me. I love playing in Austria.

"I always play well when I play here for some reason - must be the food!

"It was just amazing to have so many people coming out here cheering for us."

Elsewhere, popular Germany pro Marcel Schneider (68) finished in a tie for second.

LIV Golf reserve John Catlin also finished in the top 10.
