Jon Rahm has revealed how Tiger Woods has not shown the same level of support as Rory McIlroy of his decision to join the Saudi-bankrolled LIV Golf League.

Rahm made his shock move from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf at the end of 2023 in a deal worth a reported $600m

In a recent interview with ESPN's Marty Smith, two-time major champion Rahm said McIlroy was "supportive publicly of my decision and privately as well."

McIlroy's stance on PGA Tour members diverting to LIV Golf has taken something of a U-turn in recent months, and it allcomes as a big surprise to his former manager Chubby Chandler who spoke exclusively to GolfMagic this week.

Rahm then confirmed on Sunday morning's edition of ESPN's SportsCenter that 15-time major champion Woods had not been so supportive as McIlroy in switching his allegiance to LIV Golf in 2024.

When pressed on whether Woods has spoken to him following his move to LIV Golf, the Spaniard told ESPN's Smith:

"Tiger? No, not really. I mean, Tiger, I texted him and the people that try to reach out, you know, the process, when I signed and I just let him know, ‘Hey, you know, this is a personal decision.'"

Rahm did not elaborate on what he texted Woods following his move to LIV Golf.

When Woods was asked at the 2023 PNC Championship for his verdict on Rahm's departure to LIV Golf, he replied:

"Well, there’s been a lot of talk over the years of certain players going, and it was speculation until it happened because there’s been rumours of names going and not going, and whether they materialized or not. So we assumed it was just speculation till it happened."

Woods spoke earlier this season of his delight at Strategic Sports Group heavily investing into the PGA Tour.

SSG confirmed a $3 billion investment into the PGA Tour this season.

Woods praised SSG for "believing" in the PGA Tour.

This comes at a time when the PGA Tour's framework agreement deadline has been extended to just before The Masters.
