Lexi Thompson shares heartwarming personal news ahead of Portland Classic

Lexi Thompson has revealed she is pregnant with her first child, announcing the happy news just days before she is due to compete at the Standard Portland Classic.

The 31-year-old LPGA star shared the news on Instagram alongside her husband, Max Provost, revealing that they are expecting a baby girl in February 2027.

Thompson posted a series of photographs with Provost and described the pregnancy as “the greatest blessing of our lives” as the couple prepare to start a new chapter together.

A host of LPGA stars were quick to send their congratulations in the comments, including World No.1 and four-time major champion Nelly Korda. 

Thompson and Provost married in March 2026 at La Casa Toscana, a private Tuscan-style estate in Southwest Florida, having become engaged on New Year’s Day in 2025 during a trip to Whistler, Canada.

The pregnancy announcement adds another significant moment to what has already been a very different stage of Thompson’s life and career.

A former major champion and 11-time LPGA winner, Thompson has stepped away from a full-time schedule but continues to compete selectively on the circuit.

She announced in 2024 that she would no longer play a full-time LPGA schedule after that season, choosing instead to prioritise her personal life and wellbeing while remaining involved in professional golf.

Thompson is now set to tee it up in Portland this week, where she will join a strong field headlined by two-time major champion Haeran Ryu and World No. 2 Jeeno Thitikul.

England’s Lottie Woad and China’s Ruoning Yin are also among those competing at Columbia Edgewater Country Club.

Thompson’s 2026 season so far

Thompson has made a limited number of starts this year, with her best result coming at the Chevron Championship.

She finished tied for 12th at the first major of the season, shooting 72-72-66-74 for a 4-under-par total, and that was her only major appearance of 2026.

Thompson subsequently missed the cut at the Mizuho Americas Open before finishing tied for 54th at the Kroger Queen City Championship.

Her season began with another missed cut at the Ford Championship, where rounds of 75 and 69 left her level par.

Now, Thompson heads to Portland with the focus firmly on both golf and an exciting new chapter away from the course.

The former U.S. Women's Open champion has enjoyed an extraordinary career since turning professional, but her latest announcement marks a milestone that goes well beyond golf.

With her baby girl due to arrive in February, the LPGA star has given fans another reason to follow her journey both on and off the course.
