Brooks Koepka admits both LIV Golf and the PGA Tour have 'no idea' what the future holds in terms of a possible merger in the pro game.

Koepka, the captain of Smash GC, was speaking to the media ahead of this week's LIV Golf Singapore.

It marks the final LIV Golf event before Koepka bids to successfully defend the US PGA at Valhalla from 16-19 May.

Koepka was pressed by reporters for his thoughts on the ongoing merger talks between LIV Golf's bankrollers, the Saudi Public Investment Fund, and the PGA Tour.

In the eyes of the five-time major champion, Koepka considers LIV Golf will remain a separate entity no matter what transpires between the PIF and PGA Tour.

Koepka said:

"I mean, the merger is also between PIF and the PGA Tour. I think that's the difference. It's not LIV Golf, it's the PIF and the PGA TOUR. I think that's something that needs to be well-known.

"Look, we have no idea. The PGA Tour has no idea. Our job is to go play golf, and that's it. That's what we're here to do. But I think it's important that that merger is that way."

Koepka's teammate Graeme McDowell then chimed in with:

"I think we all believe that the product we're playing in right now is strong and we don't think it's going to go away anytime soon. I think there's a lot of positives for the fan with the team element. We saw the first team playoff last week in Australia. There's just so many good things that we're doing out here. I really feel like the trajectory is moving us in the right direction, and I don't think this product is going anywhere anytime soon regardless of any mergers. We're very, very happy with what we're doing and with the product that we're playing in."

Talor Gooch, another member of Smash GC, had a blunt two-word response when pressed by reporters on his plans for major qualifying this season.
