LIV Golf star spotted with notable apparel change during latest tournament

Peter Uihlein has raised questions over his LIV Golf future after appearing at this week’s Asian Tour event without any of his usual RangeGoats GC apparel or accessories.

As first highlighted by Rob Brooks, Uihlein was noticeably without RangeGoats branding during Thursday’s opening round of the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship at Linkou International Golf and Country Club in Taiwan.

Most notably, Uihlein was wearing a Titleist cap rather than his usual RangeGoats GC headwear, while there was no obvious RangeGoats branding elsewhere on his clothing or equipment.

However, there is an important caveat.

Uihlein is still listed as a LIV Golf player on the RangeGoats GC social media channels, meaning his appearance without team apparel should not be viewed as confirmation that he has left the franchise.

Nevertheless, the timing of the change is likely to fuel further speculation over his future.

Uihlein finished 22nd in the individual LIV Golf standings in 2026, giving him a solid campaign on the breakaway circuit despite the uncertainty now surrounding the league and its teams.

His current LIV status has not been officially clarified, while the future of RangeGoats GC itself is also uncertain as LIV Golf looks towards a potential new era in 2027.

The franchise is captained by Bubba Watson, with Matt Wolff and Ben Campbell also currently listed on the team.

Whether that group remains together in whatever form LIV Golf takes next year remains to be seen.

"Thank you fans, for the ride of a lifetime," read RangeGoats GC's social media post during the league's final tournament in Indiana last month. 

Uihlein, meanwhile, made an encouraging start to his Asian Tour return on Thursday. 

The American carded a flawless 4-under 68 in his opening round of the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship to sit four shots off the early pace.

The 37-year-old has enjoyed considerable success throughout his career. 

He won the U.S. Amateur in 2010 and previously reached World No.1 in the amateur rankings before turning professional.

Uihlein has since won once on the European Tour, at the 2013 Madeira Islands Open, while he is also a two-time Asian Tour winner after claiming two International Series titles in 2024.

He currently sits 224th in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Uihlein's future could become clearer over the coming weeks as LIV players assess their options ahead of the proposed next phase of the league.

LIV Golf is reportedly being planned around a Chapter 11 restructuring, although the precise details of its future structure and whether LIV 2.0 will ultimately launch remain uncertain.

If the league does continue in 2027, reports have suggested a reduced schedule of 10 events, down from 14, alongside significantly smaller prize funds.

BC Partners is apparently leading the race to fire up LIV 2.0. 

There have been suggestions of larger fields, a 36-hole cut and Monday qualifying as LIV seeks to address concerns surrounding its place within the wider professional golf landscape.

LIV superstar Jon Rahm was once again non-committal when questioned about his own future at the BMW PGA at Wentworth on Tuesday. 

He was, however, still sporting his customary Legion XIII apparel. 

For now, Uihlein's lack of RangeGoats branding is only a small piece of the wider puzzle.
