"That's something you don't see everyday" - LIV Golf pro in shocking blunder
Sebastian Munoz called a penalty on himself during the first round of LIV Golf Hong Kon.
Former PGA Tour member Sebastian Munoz had a moment to forget during the first round of LIV Golf Hong Kong.
The 33-year-old Colombian started the third event of LIV's 2026 season well and, through five holes, was in a share of the lead with defending champion Sergio Garcia, Jason Kokrak and Dean Burmester.
He set up a great opportunity to get to six-under at the par-four 16th but ended up trudging off the green with an ugly five on his card after whiffing from less than an inch.
"That was an attempt to hit it and he bounced over it," said lead analyst David Feherty on the broadcast. "That' something you don't see every day."
Munoz knew exactly what he did and notified the scorer immediately.
Co-commentator Jerry Foltz added: "That is the forward push of the club with the attempt of advancing the ball, the definition of a stroke and he has owned up to it already."
Munoz dropped another stroke at the 17th but closed with a birdie to sign for an opening 65.

The aforementioned Burmester and Carlos Ortiz are tied for the lead after 36 holes in Hong Kong.
The duo are on 14-under, one ahead of new recruit Thomas Detry and two clear of reigning individual champion Jon Rahm.
Matthew Wolff, David Puig, Richard Bland, Harold Varner III and Graeme McDowell are also inside the top-10.
Former U.S. Open champion McDowell carded an ace on day two and the second of the week.
Rahm is searching for his first win since August 2024.
"I need to do a little bit better ball-striking wise," he told reporters. "Yesterday was not great.
"Today it was better but not as comfortable as I would like to be. Coming down the stretch in pressure situations I'm going to need to play a little bit better than that or at least swing a little bit better than I have so far.
"Clearly I'm doing just good enough to be in the hunt and hopefully get a little bit better every day."
