European Ryder Cup star Tyrrell Hatton has become the latest big name to confirm he is quitting LIV Golf.

The 35-year-old Englishman wasn't among the first wave of players to be recruited by the breakaway tour.

Hatton penned a multi-year deal with LIV in January 2024, 19 months after the renegade tour launched with a plethora of major champions and PGA Tour stars.

His decision to leave the PGA Tour also came four months after he helped Europe to Ryder Cup success at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Italy.

It's understood Hatton was paid as much as $50m to join Jon Rahm's team.

But Hatton has now decided to follow the Spanish two-time major champion out the door.

Hatton announced his departure from LIV Golf via Instagram on 23 October.

The Englishman wrote on the social media app that he "will not be a part of LIV 2.0."

Hatton joined LIV Golf ahead of the 2024 season, signing for Jon Rahm's Legion XIII team.

The move came shortly after Rahm's shock departure from the PGA Tour.

Hatton had established himself as one of Europe's leading players, with eight DP World Tour victories and a PGA Tour title to his name.

He made an immediate impact on LIV, winning the Nashville event in June 2024 by six shots.

He finished the tournament at 19-under par, securing his first individual victory in more than three years.

He also recorded seven top-10 finishes during his debut season.

Hatton played a key role in Legion XIII's success.

The team finished second in the 2024 standings before winning the team championship in 2025.

He continued to produce strong results in 2026.

Hatton claimed his second LIV individual title at Andalucia in June, finishing two shots clear of Rahm at Valderrama.

He ended the season fifth in the individual standings. Legion XIII also defended their team title.

His time with LIV also coincided with continued involvement in the Ryder Cup, although he was involved in a protracted standoff with the DP World Tour.

The dispute with the DP World Tour centred on fines for playing LIV Golf events without permission.

At the beginning of the year, Hatton reached an agreement with the DP World Tour.

He accepted conditions including paying outstanding fines, withdrawing his appeals and playing additional Tour events.

This secured his membership and eligibility for the 2026 season, provided he met the terms

Hatton represented Europe in the 2025 contest at Bethpage Black, helping the team secure a tense 15-13 over the United States.

Once again, Hatton forged a formidable partnership with the aforementioned Rahm.

When PIF pulled its funding, it was speculated that Hatton was among those desperate to leave.

He appeared to indicate as much when he chose Queen's "I Want To Break Free" as his walk-up song during LIV's season finale in Indianapolis.

It was reported that it was an intentional choice to signal a desire to leave.

Hatton denied those rumours the following week at the British Masters.

Several prominent players have announced they will not continue with LIV Golf’s proposed 2027 relaunch.

Spain's Jon Rahm, England's Ian Poulter and South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen are among those departing.

Adrian Meronk, David Puig, Abraham Ancer, Charles Howell III, Thomas Pieters, Branden Grace and Lucas Herbert have also indicated they will not continue with the circuit.

Rahm reached a separation agreement with LIV, while Poulter said he wanted to spend more time with his family, reduce international travel and focus on senior golf.

Oosthuizen cited concerns over the proposed new schedule and his desire to control his playing commitments.

Attention will now turn to Bryson DeChambeau.

LIV's future may depend on whether the two-time U.S. Open champion decides to stay.

ESPN reported at the beginning of the week that DeChambeau remains committed to LIV.
