Lexi Thompson forced out of KPMG Women's PGA Championship
Lexi Thompson will miss the KPMG Women's PGA Championship after withdrawing with the hip injury that sidelined her in Michigan.

Lexi Thompson has withdrawn from this week's KPMG Women's PGA Championship as she continues to battle the hip injury that forced her out of last week's Meijer LPGA Classic.
Tournament organisers confirmed Thompson's withdrawal ahead of the third major championship of the LPGA season, with Spain's Carolina Chacarra taking her place in the field.
Thompson was forced to pull out during last week's Meijer LPGA Classic in Michigan after experiencing hip pain, later sharing her disappointment with fans on social media.
"It's hard to put into words how disappointed I am to have had to withdraw from this week," Thompson wrote on Instagram.
The 31-year-old, who announced last year that she would be stepping away from a full-time LPGA schedule, has made just six starts in 2026.
Her best result this season remains a tie for 12th at the Chevron Championship, the year's opening major.
Thompson's WD continues a frustrating run for the American, who earlier this month failed to qualify for the U.S. Women's Open.
That marked the first time since 2007 that she had missed the championship, ending a streak of 19 consecutive appearances.
Thompson, a winner of 11 LPGA titles including a sole major at the 2014 Chevron Championship, has enjoyed solid recent results at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, finishing tied 12th in 2025 and sharing ninth place the year before.
Attention now turns to a star-studded field led by world number one Nelly Korda, who arrives as the overwhelming favourite following a remarkable start to the season.
Korda has already collected four LPGA titles in 2026, including victories in the first two majors of the season at the Chevron Championship and U.S. Women's Open.
The 27-year-old American has also triumphed at the Tournament of Champions and Riviera Maya Open.
Defending champion Minjee Lee will also be among the contenders looking to challenge Korda this week.
Meanwhile, England's Lottie Woad will be eager to bounce back after suffering late heartbreak at the Meijer LPGA Classic.
Woad, 22, held a one-shot lead standing on the 18th tee on Sunday but missed a short par putt from three feet to force a playoff, before eventually losing to Japan's Miyu Yamashita.
