What is your favourite golf major championship?

If you're Gary Player, it's certainly not The Masters as the nine-time major champion famously declared he ranks the annual excursion to Augusta National as dead last.

“I rate The Open at one, the U.S. Open two, PGA three and Augusta four," Player once said to the astonishment of millions.

Over at GolfMagic, we're inclined to agree the PGA Championship is definitely not the best of the bunch.

That being said, our Johnny Percival had some strong views on the second major of the year on the latest instalment of The Par FORE Podcast presented by GolfMagic.

Johnny asked our Will Ward and Alex Lodge how excited they get for the PGA Championship

The best players in the world will soon descend upon Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.

Johnny said: "Personally, for me I've got Masters number one, The Open number two, U.S. Open number three and the PGA Championship four.

"But that's just in the majors. I think if you were to include -- like, I love the Genesis Invitational at Riviera, especially as a spectacle to watch on TV.

"I would argue I would [prefer to watch that] than the PGA Championship.

"I know that's controversial, but for some reason I've got this real thing about the PGA Championship.

"I feel like America has been greedy and they don't need three major championships there.

"The PGA Championship should be moved elsewhere."

Johnny said he believed the idea that it could be staged in a different country annually could add some much-needed excitement to an otherwise underwhelming major.

"I get that," said Alex.

Over the course of this latest pod, the gang also discussed Talor Gooch's inclusion into the field next week, how fatherhood will affect Scottie Scheffler, Brooks Koepka's latest win and how important distance really is in amateur golf.
