Kai Trump puts Mum Vanessa on spot over Tiger Woods romance in awkward YouTube moment

Kai Trump playfully put her mother Vanessa Trump on the spot this week while filming a light-hearted YouTube video at their family home.

Vanessa, who has been dating golf legend Tiger Woods in the public eye for close to a year, joined her 18-year-old daughter for a cookie-decorating session in the kitchen. But what began as a wholesome baking video quickly turned cheeky when Kai steered the conversation towards her mum’s love life.

As they decorated cookies, Kai quizzed Vanessa about when she last made them.

"I would say Christmas time. Valentine's Day cookies..." Vanessa replied.

A grinning Kai immediately jumped in: ''Is love in the air?"

The talented golfer, who made her LPGA debut last season, burst into laughter as her mum looked momentarily caught off guard.

"Oh my gosh. Nice trick question Kai... I wasn't born yesterday," Vanessa responded.

The exchange left Kai struggling to keep a straight face as the pair continued decorating.

Later in the video, their conversation turned to golf — a sport central to both their lives.

Kai, who is set to join the University of Miami to play collegiate golf in 2026, asked her mother whether she loved the game.

"I taught all my kids to play golf. I didn't teach them personally, but I brought them to [play]," Vanessa explained.

"I'm not a golfer, I was a tennis player," she added. 

"[But] I do love Putt Putt. I just love putting. I spent a lot of time practicing putting, and I do love golf."

Despite insisting she is not a golfer, Vanessa has apparently held her own against her daughter on the greens.

"It's funny though because she's actually beat me at putting a few times," Kai revealed. 

"I'm not the best putter. I am a great putter in tournaments here and there, but somehow you always, I don't know."

Kai recently confirmed she underwent surgery to start the 2026 season. 

The rising 18-year-old golf star shared the unfortunate update with her Instagram followers, explaining that doctors were forced to intervene after discovering damage in her left wrist. 

The procedure addressed injuries to key stabilising tissue around her ECU tendon, as well as issues with her triangular fibrocartilage complex.

Kai's light-hearted family moment with her mother comes as Woods and Vanessa continue to be seen together at high-profile events.

The 15-time major champion recently celebrated his 50th birthday with Vanessa by his side at a lavish party that also marked 30 years of his charitable foundation. 

Kai also attended the celebration.

Woods is hosting his annual Genesis Invitational at Riviera this week and is set to speak to the media on Tuesday, where he is expected to provide an update on his fitness and potential PGA Tour return.

The former World No.1 has not played in a competitive Tour event since missing the cut at The Open in July 2024. 

Woods underwent the seventh back surgery of his career in October 2025, which caused him take an extended period out of the game. He underwent lumbar disc replacement surgery in his L4/5 Lumbar spine for lower back symptoms.

Prior to this latest back surgery, Woods, who experienced a horror car crash in February 2021, was already recovering from surgery to repair a ruptured left Achilles tendon in March.

There remains hope the golf legend will be able to compete in the season’s first major, The Masters, in April, but we'll have to wait and see.
