Matt Fitzpatrick has capped a memorable month by confirming that he and his wife, Katherine Fitzpatrick, are expecting their first child.

Fresh off victory two weeks ago at the Valspar Championship, the Englishman took to Instagram alongside Katherine to share his happy news with fans.

The couple posted two black-and-white images, captured by Maya Schauffele, wife of fellow PGA Tour star Xander Schauffele, showing the pair smiling as they celebrate the next chapter in their lives.

Katherine acknowledged Maya for photographing the moment, as messages of congratulations quickly poured in from across the golfing world and beyond.

Mrs Fitzpatrick wrote on Instagram alongside two images of herself and Matt: “We can’t wait to meet our baby 💛 Thank you @maya_schauffele for capturing the moment 📸🌞”.

The announcement offers context to recent social media activity from Katherine, who had been sharing lighthearted videos of herself packing up the couple’s home while Fitzpatrick competed at The Players Championship.

At the time, the move sparked curiosity among followers, but it now appears the change was part of preparations for their growing family.

Fitzpatrick and Katherine first went public with their relationship in 2023 and have since become a familiar presence together on Tour. Katherine was regularly seen supporting her husband at events and even stepped in as caddie during the Par-3 Contest at The Masters.

Their relationship progressed quickly. The couple got engaged in September 2023 before tying the knot just over a year later at All Saints Episcopal Church near Bay Head Yacht Club in New Jersey.

The pregnancy news comes during an impressive spell for Fitzpatrick on the course.

The 31-year-old secured his third PGA Tour title with victory at the Valspar Championship, bouncing back in style after narrowly missing out at The Players Championship the previous week, where he finished runner-up to Cameron Young.

Fitzpatrick produced a composed display at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort to get over the line, underlining his strong form at a crucial point in the season.

He is next set to tee it up at The Masters at Augusta National from 9-12 April, where he will attempt to win his second career major and claim a first Green Jacket.

Confidence around the Englishman is clearly building, with his odds tumbling in recent weeks. Fitzpatrick was priced at 50/1 prior to his runner-up finish at The Players Championship but has since been cut in half to 25/1 following his victory at the Valspar Championship.

With momentum on the course and life-changing news away from it, Fitzpatrick heads to Augusta with both his game and personal life in a remarkably strong place.
