Max Homa has taken to social media to blast an online troll who claimed his wife Lacey Croom is holding him back.

Homa revealed 'some clown' made the rude comment on his wife's TikTok account.

According to the keyboard warrior, it's Lacey's fault that Homa has struggled to breakthrough in the majors.

"Some clown commented on my wife's tik tok that she and my son are holding me back from winning majors," he wrote on 11 March.

"I guess he hasn't seen my record before having a kid. It's even worse! Moral of the story, it's all my wife's fault she's been here for all of them."

Homa has now won six times on the PGA Tour and many believe the world number eight has what it takes to win a major.

Truthfully, Homa had a forgettable 2023 when it came to the big four.

He finished T-43 at the Masters, T-55 at the PGA Championship and missed the cut at the U.S. Open

The 151st Open at Royal Liverpool was a different story, though, as he tied for 10th. That remains his best finish in a major to date.

Homa's form this season has been good and he appears to be trending in the right direction.

So far this season he has four top-25 finishes and one missed cut, which came in Phoenix.

He also finished in the top-10 at the recent Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill.

For his part Homa has admitted in the past that he perhaps 'tries too hard' when it comes to the majors.

"I really do believe that my golf game is plenty good enough to contend in these things," he previously said.

"I'm a perfectionist and it makes me work really, really hard. I'm very diligent. But it's like a double-edged sword.

"I get in these things and I can't seem to understand that it's okay to make bogeys and it's okay to mess up."
