The PGA Tour has officially awarded Blades Brown Special Temporary Membership, providing one of golf's brightest young talents with a significant opportunity to accelerate his path to full PGA Tour status.

The 19-year-old American, who has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign across both the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour, will now be eligible to accept unlimited sponsor exemptions for the remainder of the 2026 PGA Tour season through the FedExCup Fall.

Brown earned Special Temporary Membership after surpassing the required non-member FedExCup points threshold thanks to a tie for 14th place finish at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson last month.

The Nashville native currently sits on 266 non-member FedExCup points, a total that would place him between 88th and 89th in the current FedExCup standings.

The latest development gives Brown two clear routes to securing a PGA Tour card for the 2027 season.

Brown can either accumulate as many or more FedExCup points than the player who finishes 70th in the final FedExCup Fall standings, or earn promotion through the Korn Ferry Tour by ending the season inside the top 20 on the points list.

He is already well positioned on that front. Competing in his first full Korn Ferry Tour season, Brown currently occupies 11th place on the points list after recording two top-three finishes in just nine starts.

Choices

Should Brown maintain that position and earn promotion as now expected, Brown would become the youngest player ever to secure a PGA Tour card via the Korn Ferry Tour pathway.

The current record belongs to Jason Day, who earned his card at 19 years, 11 months and 23 days.

Brown will be just 19 years, 4 months and 17 days old by the conclusion of the Korn Ferry Tour Championship in October.

Brown's performances against PGA Tour fields this season have underlined why many regard him as one of the game's most exciting prospects.

In seven PGA Tour appearances, Brown has already posted four top-25 finishes.

His best result came with a solo third-place finish at the Puerto Rico Open, while a tie for ninth at the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic secured his place in the field at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

Earlier this season, Brown also impressed as a sponsor exemption at The American Express, finishing tied for 18th.

During that event, he fired a stunning second-round 60 on the Nicklaus Tournament Course, earning a place in the final-round pairing alongside world number one Scottie Scheffler.

Brown turned professional in early 2025 at just 17 years old and quickly progressed through the Korn Ferry Tour ranks.

A tie for seventh at the Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank and Intermountain Health earned him Korn Ferry Tour Special Temporary Membership before he went on to secure full Korn Ferry Tour membership for 2026 by finishing 68th on the season-long points list.

Before entering the professional game, Brown had already built a reputation as one of American golf's most promising young players. In 2023, he became the youngest stroke-play medallist in U.S. Amateur history at the age of 16.

He also impressed in his lone PGA Tour start as an amateur, finishing tied for 24th at the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic and becoming one of only 12 players on record to make a PGA Tour cut aged 16 or younger.

With Special Temporary Membership now secured and multiple routes to a PGA Tour card available, Brown's rapid rise shows no signs of slowing down.
