PGA Tour makes Sunday decision ahead of Bermuda Championship final round
Smotherman and Power lead the way in Bermuda, with 15 players within five shots heading into the final round.
The PGA Tour has confirmed that there will be no play on Sunday at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship after worsening weather conditions forced officials to cancel the day's action at Port Royal Golf Course.
The announcement comes after the Tour initially delayed final-round starting times due to wind gusts exceeding 40 mph, with conditions showing no signs of improving.
In a further update posted on the PGA Tour Communications account on X, officials confirmed that the tournament would not resume on Sunday.
“With no improvement to the current weather conditions and anticipated further deterioration, there will be no play today,” the statement read.
The PGA Tour added that further information regarding the possibility of play on Monday would be provided no later than 5:00pm local time on Sunday.
The decision leaves the conclusion of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship in doubt, with officials now assessing whether conditions will allow the tournament to resume on Monday.
Austin Smotherman and Seamus Power share the lead at 16-under-par heading into the final round, with both players preparing to battle for victory when play can safely resume.
However, the leading pair face a formidable challenge from a crowded chasing pack.
Taylor Moore, Corey Conners and Ben Silverman are tied for third at 14-under, just two shots behind the leaders.
A further five players sit at 13-under, including Tom Hoge, Chris Kirk, Chan Kim, Danny Walker and Chandler Blanchet.
In total, 15 players are within five shots of the lead, setting up a potentially dramatic finish once the weather allows the action to get underway.
Smotherman is seeking his second PGA Tour title in the space of a month, while Power is going in pursuit of a second win in this tournament having won it in 2022.
With so many players still in contention, the timing of the restart could prove crucial as the PGA Tour looks to bring the tournament to a conclusion.
The Butterfield Bermuda Championship is the fifth of eight events in the 2026 FedExCup Fall series, making the final round important for players seeking valuable points and improved positions in the standings.
For now, players and fans must wait for the PGA Tour's next announcement, which is due by 5:00pm local time on Sunday.
GolfMagic will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available.
The PGA Tour is scheduled to head to Mexico next week.
