PGA Tour pro has funniest reaction to hitting longest drive in two decades

Max Homa reacted the only way he knew how after smashing the longest drive on the PGA Tour in more than two decades.

Before you get too carried away and start suggesting the golf ball should be rolled back even further in light of this news, we need to let you know a couple of facts.

First of all let's tell you exactly how far Homa's drive went: 477 yards.

It should be noted this tee shot, which arrived during Homa's third round on the seventh hole at Kapalua's Plantation Course during The Sentry, was sharply downhill and severely downwind.

But still, pretty cool eh? 477 yards!

This was the longest recorded drive on the PGA Tour since the ShotLink Era began in 2003.

"For it being uphill into the wind with no roll I was pretty proud of this one," Homa wrote sarcastically on X after he posted a third round of 5-under 68, which saw him six back of the lead heading into the final round.

Homa left himself 43 yards away from the hole and stuffed a wedge to inside four feet and duly rolled in his birdie putt.

Despite being an impressive wack, the drive was still some way short of the record.

Carl Cooper is credited with the longest drive ever on the PGA Tour. He sent one drive 787 yards off the tee during the 1992 Texas Open.

It should be noted that his golf ball did actually hit a cart path and just kept on going. And going. And going.

It won't surprise you to find that Tiger Woods is inside the top-5 of longest ever drives hit.

In 2002, big cat sent one 498 yards. Dustin Johnson, you might recall, hit a similarly ridiculous drive during the 2018 Sentry Tournament of Champions. His effort went 489 yards on the 12th hole of the Plantation Course.
