PGA Tour member Luke List endured a nightmarish moment during the third round of the World Wide Technology Championship.

List comfortably made the cut and began round three a respectable 10 strokes adrift of 36-hole leader Matti Schmid in the FedEx Cup Fall event.

Yet it wasn't long before the 40-year-old found himself at the foot of the leaderboard, competing solely for pride

List somehow contrived to make an octuple-bogey 12 (!) at the par-four 15th at the Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal at Diamante Cabo San Lucas.

Extraordinarily, it took the two-time PGA Tour winner 10 strokes to reach the green.

He began his round on the back nine and made three pars in a row before dropping two shots on the 13th and 14th.

Unfortunately, there is no shot tracking at this PGA Tour event and, at the time of publication, is no video footage either of List's shocker.

CBS Sports contributor and golf stats man Rick Gehman noted it was the most fairway shots on a single hole going back the last seven years.

List can rest safe in the knowledge that it is not the highest score recorded on a single hole in an official PGA Tour event.

Dale Douglas took 19 strokes during the 1963 Bing Crosby National Pro-Am at Pebble Beach's 10th hole.
