Garrick Higgo lit up El Cardonal at Diamante on moving day, matching the course record with a blistering 11-under-par 61 to seize a one-shot lead heading into the final round of the World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico.

The 26-year-old South African came out firing, holing out for eagle at the par-5 1st before rattling off five consecutive birdies to turn in a scorching 29.

Four more birdies followed on the back nine, including a clutch roll at the par-5 18th to post 22-under-par 194 through 54 holes.

“I hit it great, made a lot of good putts and chipped in once,” said Higgo. “Everything was really solid — I just took advantage of the opportunities I had.”

Already a PGA Tour winner this season at the Corales Puntacana Championship, Higgo now finds himself in pole position to claim a second trophy of 2025 and the third of his career on the main circuit.

Carson Young kept the pressure on with an impressive 63 featuring 11 birdies and two bogeys, leaving him just one behind at 21-under.

Still chasing his first Tour title, the 30-year-old American is hoping to turn last year’s heartbreak — a runner-up finish in a playoff at this very event — into redemption.

“Last year I missed out by one, so it kind of feels like revenge being back in the final group,” said Young. “I’m just focused on my game and not the leaderboard. I’m excited to see if I can finally break through.”

Ben Griffin (66), Trevor Cone (65) and Chad Ramey (67) sit two strokes adrift at 20-under, keeping themselves firmly in the hunt heading into Sunday.

With only three events left in the PGA Tour season, the stakes are high.

The top 100 in the FedExCup standings will retain full cards for 2026 — a notable drop from the previous cutoff of 125. Higgo currently sits safely at No. 57, while Young is fighting for survival at 136th.

Further down the leaderboard, Luke List endured a nightmare at the par-4 15th, carding a 12 on his way to an 85 — the second-worst single-hole score on Tour this year, behind William Mouw’s 13 at The American Express.

As Higgo takes a slender advantage into Sunday, the World Wide Technology Championship is finely poised. With the winds swirling over Baja California and a stacked chasing pack, the final round promises fireworks.
