Rory McIlroy spotted "ripping it" at renowned nightclub

Rory McIlroy appears to be enjoying his break from professional golf. 

The Northern Irishman jetted off to Greece shortly after wrapping up his major season two weeks ago at Royal Birkdale with a disappointing finish at The Open.

McIlroy was joined on the break by his wife, Erica, their daughter, Poppy, as well as close friend Shane Lowry and his family.

Images posted on social media by Lowry's wife, Wendy, showed the group enjoying relaxing dinners, days at the beach and plenty of activities for the children. 

From there, McIlroy appears to have made his way to Spain. It's unclear if he went alone. 

And on Wednesday, the Masters champion was spotted partying at Pacha Ibiza, one of the country's best-known nightclubs. 

It's not the first time he has been observed letting his hair down in public. 

Last year, McIlroy was filmed partying at a beach club in Saint-Tropez after his first Masters triumph. 

The victory saw McIlroy become only the sixth golfer after Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan and Gary Player to achieve the career gran slam. 

McIlroy joked that his green jacket was "on the yacht" when asked by reporters of its whereabouts.

McIlroy later told of how he struggled for motivation after winning his first Masters title. 

For years he had struggled to conquer his own personal Everest and it took him some time to rediscover his drive.

Going forward, McIlroy has made it clear that his remaining goals are to win a U.S. Open at an iconic venue, win The Open at St Andrews, collect an Olympic medal and become Europe's all-time leading points scorer in the Ryder Cup. 

Sergio Garcia is Europe's record points scorer with 28.5 points. McIlroy has amassed 21.5 points overall in the biennial contest against the United States. 

McIlroy told reporters before leaving Royal Birkdale that this season felt similar to last. 

"Obviously I won the first major of the year and fell off a little bit after that - but any time you win a major in a year, you have to be pleased about that," he said. 

"I haven't really taken the time to enjoy that or celebrate that.

"Poppy's got another four weeks off school until she goes back, so I'm just going to enjoy the summer holidays with her and Erica. That's what I'm looking forward to the most."

McIlroy also admitted that playing on the PGA Tour these days no longer gets his juices flowing. 

"I think it just sort of ebbs and flows," he said. "There's been years where I've given it maybe more of my attention and years that I haven't.

"I guess I'm just at a stage that I have other things that I prioritise.

"I came to that decision last year, and I'm just sort of doing the same thing."
