Tiger Woods appeared to be fully aware Jon Rahm was moving to LIV Golf.

Woods took to social media on 7 December minutes after the Spaniard was announced as a breakaway tour player to post a simple message.

That message?

It read:

"The Player Directors are united and all working together to represent the PGA Tour, the entire player membership, and best interests of the sport."

Woods also attached a detailed memo that was addressed to the PGA Tour's membership outlining how all parties involved in the 6 June framework agreement are still 'diligently' working towards a solution before the 31 December deadline.

The memo, which was signed by Woods, Charley Hoffman, Peter Malnati, Patrick Cantlay, Webb Simpson, Jordan Spieth and Adam Scott, also claimed the governance committee is working towards amending the policy board's governing documents so that 'no major decision' can be made in the future without prior involvement and approval of the player directors.

It was a reference to the framework agreement which was brokered by two PGA Tour officials, Jimmy Dunne and Er Herlihy, along with commissioner Jay Monahan without anyone's knowledge.

The memo also claims the player directors are working on a programme for PGA Tour members to have 'direct ownership in our tour through equity grants'.

Rahm's decision to join LIV Golf has sent shockwaves through the sport and it is unknown how his decision to join the rival league will impact the negotiations with the PIF.

The reigning Masters champion gave an interview to Fox News in the immediate aftermath of being announced as a LIV player.

Asked if the PIF deal will still come together, Rahm said: "I certainly hope the best for the future, right, that's all I can say.

"Whatever makes golf better. I've said numerous times in interviews for people listening in that don't know, I want to leave the game of golf, at least in Spain, in a better state that I found it.

"The great Seve Ballesteros was able to do that from when he started until when he died. Hopefully I can do my part."
