Jordan Spieth is an American professional golfer on the PGA Tour

Spieth was born on 27 July 1993 to Shawn Spieth and Mary Christine Spieth. 

He has two siblings, a sister called Ellie and a brother named Steven. He is married to Annie Verret and his caddie is Michael Greller

Early life

Spieth was born in Dallas, Texas and learned to play golf at Brookhaven Country Club. 

He turned professional in 2012, making his first PGA Tour appearance at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. 

He had a stellar amateur career in which he won the U.S. Junior Amateur in 2009 at Trump National Bedminster. 

Career wins, major championship triumphs

As of June 2024, Spieth has won 13 times on the PGA Tour, three times on the European Tour and twice on the PGA Tour of Australasia. 

He has also won three majors. The first came at the 2015 Masters. He won the U.S. Open in the same year. 

He also won the 2017 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. 

When he won The Masters, he tied the 1997 winning score set by Tiger Woods. He also became the second-youngest player to win a Green Jacket.

When he won the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay aged 21, he became the youngest man to win the major since Bobby Jones in 1923.

Another one of his achievements includes became the sixth-youngest player to make the cut at a PGA Tour. That happened at the 2010 Byron Nelson Championship. 

First PGA Tour victory

Spieth's first victory on the PGA Tour came shortly before the 20th birthday when he won the John Deere Classic in a sudden-death playoff. 

Spieth has also represented the U.S. in the Junior Ryder Cup, appearing on the winning team twice and also in the losing 2011 Walker Cup side.

Spieth has represented the U.S. in the Presidents Cup and as of 2022 had a 100 per cent winning record, helping the team to victory on four occasions. 

At the 2022 Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow Club he went 5-0-0. 

Ryder Cup

Spieth has also played in the Ryder Cup on five occasions, appearing on the winning team in 2016 and 2021. 

His overall Ryder Cup record is 8-7-3. 

In November 2015, Spieth became the No. 1 ranked player in the Official World Golf Ranking. He held the top spot for 26 weeks. 

Among his stellar career thus far, Spieth has also won the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup. As of November 2022, his PGA Tour career earnings total $62,398,748.

Marriage

Spieth married his high school sweetheart Annie in November 2018. 

The couple have one child, a son called Sammy, who was born in November 2021.

Outside of golf, Spieth spends time working with his foundation. 

The Jordan Spieth Family Foundation launched in 2014 as a platform to lend time, awareness and financial assistance to youth with special needs. 

The foundation also works with military families and sick children. 

Spieth has previously said that his sister Ellie - who has special needs - is his hero. 

Spieth is signed with Under Armour and has a contract with the clothing company until 2025. He is also a Titleist ambassador. 

Outside of golf, he has said his interests include basketball, fishing and hanging out at the beach.
