Tour Championship Golf Betting Tips

Let's not beat around the bush here. Scottie Scheffler will win the Tour Championship to deservedly become the first player in history to successfully defend the FedEx Cup. The only problem is that he's a red-hot 7/4 favourite at East Lake, so you're not going to get particularly rich. 

But a win is a win, right? 

Scheffler might not have the luxury of an adjusted handicap start at the Tour Championship this time around, but if truth be told it will not matter in the slightest for the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup leader.

Yes, 7/4 is short, of course it is before a ball has been struck, but nobody else is winning this thing. Period. 

Scheffler is my confident outright win selection for the Tour Championship, and it's not a case of whether he wins but more a case of how many he wins by at East Lake. 

Not only does he have just 29 other players to beat, but the majority of his biggest rivals on the PGA Tour are significantly out of form, or not even here in Atlanta, Georgia. 

Rory McIlroy admitted last week to not having even picked up a club in his three weeks off, and it showed with a lethargic display at the BMW that I hardly see improving a week later. 

McIlroy, a record three-time FedEx Cup winner, does love East Lake for sure, but I feel like he's more interested in just getting his game in shape for the Ryder Cup next month. 

Other PGA Tour stars such as Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay and Collin Morikawa look worryingly, at least for the USA, out of form ahead of the biennial dust-up with Europe. 

World No.3 Xander Schauffele even failed to make the season finale. 

That all goes to make Scheffler's task even easier at the Tour Championship, and also explains why he's so short in the market. 

Scheffler has won five times already this season but his game looks better than ever right now off the back of two wins in his last three starts.

The putter is warm, and when it's warm he wins.

You could argue perhaps waiting for someone to burst out the gate on Thursday to then lengthen Scheffler's odds could be a prudent play, but that comes at a risk as the 18-time PGA Tour winner could very well continue where he left off at the BMW and drive off into the sunset. 

At decent each-way prices to chase Scheffler home, I like the current form of both Sam Burns at 28/1 and Cameron Young at 30/1. 

Young won his first title recently and has continued to impress in recent weeks on the PGA Tour, and Burns looked somewhere back to his best again with a tie for fourth at the BMW. 

Both players are also looking to further impress US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley, who will soon make his six captain's picks for New York. 

Young should easily receive a pick, and I think the door is ajar for Burns, especially given his relationship with Scheffler.
